Artist Statement
 

I’m Ellemie, a Belgian artist creating colourful, dreamlike paintings that turn everyday feelings into strange and playful worlds.

My work sits between the familiar and the surreal, combining expressive colour, unexpected details and a touch of humour to explore the way we experience the world around us.

Art for people who like their reality with a little more imagination.

Background & Training

I hold a Master’s degree in Art History, which informs my interest in the stories and meanings hidden within images.

Although primarily self-taught, I developed my artistic foundation through more than seven years of training with illustrator and draughtsman Chris Vandendriessche during my childhood. In September 2026, I will continue developing my practice at the Academy of Leuven under the guidance of artist Hilde Overbergh.
